Ramona was born in Vinton, IA on March 30, 1940, the daughter of Francis Dean Goodwin and Jennie Maxine (Hansen) Goodwin.

Ramona married Darwin Doyle Beatty of Waterloo on November 11, 1956, and together the couple had five children before divorcing years later.

Ramona worked as a laborer in many different capacities over the years, such as hair dresser, semi-driver, bakery and finally settling in at Beatrice Foods where she finally retired in 2001.
Over the years she lived in the Ionia/Fredricksburg and Sumner areas until a few years before she died, when she moved to Nashua.

Ramona loved to play bingo, and bowled for several years on a bowling league in Sumner, making many friends that she never forgot. She was a lover of nature and wildlife, plants, birds and flowers and had an especially green thumb for African violets, and always had a special pet or two that meant the world to her. She loved to read, crochet, do word puzzles and play games on the computer which resulted in many friendships cultivated around the world. She always loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always a big source of pride for her. Though she was just a little over five feet tall, Ramona~s strength is something her family refers to time and time again and say they all have special memories involving her never ending sense of humor and optimism. The inner-strength she drew upon in every challenging situation is something her family will always cherish.
