OSAGE | Elizabeth A. Schmidt, 92, of Osage died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bryan Lagerstam officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship following the memorial service at the church.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 5, 1922, near Mitchell, the daughter of Edwin and Frances (Nailor) Cordes. She attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell Consolidated High School in 1939. In 1942, she graduated from the Cedar Rapids Business College with a certificate of secretarial and accounting. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Alvin Schmidt on Nov. 9, 1947, in Osage. She was a devoted wife to Alvin and they traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she served as the nursery attendant for many years.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Genevieve Johnson of Avoca, Wisconsin; brother, Russell Cordes of Green Bay, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Ursula Cordes of Arlington and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin in 1999; three brothers, Howard, William and Glen Cordes.
