TITONKA | Funeral services for Meint K. Huesman, 88, of Titonka will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Ramsey Reformed Church, Titonka, with the Rev. Dr. Perry DeGroot officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Titonka Care Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Titonka.

Meint was a quiet, kind and gentle man whose family was most important to him. Meint Kenneth Huesman was born October 30, 1925, at Ackley, Iowa, to Jans and Ella (DeVries) Huesman. He attended rural school near Ackley, Iowa. Meint served in the U.S. Army for two years, 1950-1952, in Yokohama, Japan.

On Sept. 26, 1952, Meint was united in marriage to Dorothy Gray at Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka.

Meint farmed with his father for four years in Ackley. The couple moved from Ackley to Corwith where Meint worked at International Harvester Implement for seven years. The couple moved back to Titonka where he was the custodian at Titonka School System for 26½ years.

Meint was a longtime member of Ramsey Reformed Church. Meint served many years on the Church Council and taught Sunday School. He liked to sing and enjoyed music very much. He enjoyed working outdoors, keeping his yard and shrubs neat and trimmed.

Meint became a resident of the Titonka Care Center on Feb. 28, 2014.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Titonka, daughter Bonnie and husband Jerry Giesking of Webster City, Iowa; daughter Janet and husband John Engelmann of Overland Park, Kan.; son Keith Huesman and wife Jacque of Mason City, Iowa, and daughter Lori Hinders of Pueblo, Colo., as well as 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Fern Meyer of Ackley, Iowa.

Meint was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anna Schultz and Helen Snittjer, and brother LeRoy Huesman.
