MASON CITY | Fred G. Jones, 63, Mason City, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, in his home with his family beside him.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday March 26, 2014, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Fred Jones Memorial Fund in care of his family.

Fred G. Jones was born Feb. 9, 1951, to Joe and Diane (Morgan) Jones in Centralia, Ill. When Fred was still a young boy his family moved to Mason City.

On Sept. 18, 1971, Fred married Barb Levenhagen in Canton, S.D. Together they raised two children. Family always came first to him. He loved his children and his grandchildren very much.

Fred was a truck driver and liked to travel around meeting new people. He enjoyed starting conversations with them. Fred also enjoyed eating good barbecue, fishing, playing the guitar and a little gambling, here and there.

On Sept. 13, 1997, Fred received the gift of a new heart, which gave him 16 more years with his loved ones. Fred always wanted to repay the gift given to him, and was able to be a donor to repay that kindness.

Fred is survived by his wife, Barb Jones; children, Joe (April) Jones and Kristie (T. Zaiger) Jones; grandchildren, Tony, Freddy, Tabatha (Allen) Hamilton, Nikko, Timmy, Mindy and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Evan, Ariana, Ean, Kylie, Makyla and Landen; brothers, David Jones, Mike Jones, Nick Jones, Pete (Debbie) Jones and Randy (Carla) Jones; mother-in-law, Margaret Levenhagen, as well as many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Jones; brothers, Jim, Donnie and Al; aunt, Angie Jones; niece, Valerie Jones; cousin, Terry Jones; father-in-law, John Levenhagen; sisters-in-law, Nancy Lorentzen and Suzie Jones, and brother-in-law, Gary Levenhagen.
