Barb J. (Woltjer) Bessman, 67, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, August, 4, 2014, at her home in Hampton. She was born on March 20, 1947, in Hampton, Iowa, to Henry and Leona (Dority) Woltjer. Barb graduated from Hampton Community High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Ronald Patterson in 1965 and to this union three children were born the marriage later ended in divorce. Barb was later united in marriage to Gerald Bessman in 1992. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church where she was involved in the United Methodist Women. Barb enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Barb is survived by her children, Troy (Melissa) Patterson of Iowa Falls, Darrin (Kathy) Patterson of Waterloo and Kevin (Carol) Patterson of Waterloo, grandchildren, Tabetha, Tanisha, Hunter, Grace, Claire, Isabella, Sam, Alex and Leah, great granddaughter Arabella, brother Harold (Sam) Woltjer of Marshalltown. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands and two sisters Doris Dreyer and Carole Larsen.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, (Aug. 12, at Hampton United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, (Aug. 12, at Hampton United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
Burial will take place at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton. Pastor Corby Johnson will be officiating.
