Muriel J. Clutter, 88, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa.

Funeral services for Muriel Clutter will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in Clarion with Pastor Don Morrison officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation for Muriel Clutter will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Muriel Jeanne Clutter, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Stevenson) Thompson was born September 2, 1925 at the farm home north of Clarion. She attended country school in Norway Township and graduated from Clarion High School in 1942.

Muriel was united in marriage to Curtis Clutter on March 7, 1944 at the Methodist Church in Des Moines. Muriel and Curtis farmed north of Clarion for many years and moved into Clarion in 1971.

Muriel was active in United Methodist Women, Democratic Party, several groups in Federated Women, Hospital Auxiliary, and other groups.

Muriel enjoyed being with her family and going to their various activities, gardening, flowers, camping, fishing, traveling, and Thompson reunions.

Muriel is survived by 4 children; Linda (John) Thomas of Coralville, Iowa, Nancy (Paul) Ahlstrom of Clarion, Iowa, Mike (Peg) Clutter of Clarion, Iowa, Mark (Dee) Clutter of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter-in-law Beth Clutter of Clarion, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Troy, Chad, Kim, Kevin, Justin, Amy, Jenna, Cody, and Danette; 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Wilma Clark, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Curtis, who died June 6, 1996, she is preceded in death by her parents, her son Ronald in 2012, four sisters; Lola, Marj, Iris, and Fran, and one brother Gerald.
