DOUGHERTY | Lee Carol Hudson, born Dec. 21, 1940, departed her earthly home, Aug. 9, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Everett V. Hudson, Dougherty, Iowa; three children, Toni Bryant (life partner Charlie Brune) Washington, Missouri, Jon Hudson (wife Kathy) Mason City, Sarah Scaglioni, Dougherty; 12 grandchildren Holli, Christopher, and Andrew (special friend Monica Crase) Hudson, Ashville, North Carolina, Lexi, Adam, Joseph and Colton Hudson, Mason City, Misty Kroeze (husband Chad) Greene, Iowa, Brandy Hudson, Greene, Iowa, Josh Hudson (special friend Serena Pannhoff) Clarksville, Iowa, Cody Bryant, Richmond, Missouri, and Ben Bryant, Washington, Missouri. Lee also leaves behind nine beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nadine Hankenson, father Carl Hankenson and son-in-Law, Todd Scaglioni.

Lee Carol was a 1958 graduate of Mason City High School. Once her children were grown, Lee attained her nursing degree from NIACC, graduating with honors and was on the Dean~s List. She was employed as the Occupational Hazard Nurse at Con-Agra, retiring after 21 years.

Lee enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved flower gardening, bird watching, reading, traveling, and shopping. She was quite the fashionista with an exquisite sense of style and interior design.

Lee had a special affinity for all creatures great and small. She especially doted on her kitty friends, Lolli and Whoopi, along with her faithful dog DeeDee.

Most of all, Lee loved people. She never knew a stranger. She had a quick wit, infinite intelligence, a loving heart and an iron inner strength. Her life was lived with class and grace, a joy to all who knew her. Lee will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her many friends and family.

Lee~s family will greet friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.
