GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. | Mary Lorraine Pethick, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Hope West Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo.

She was born on June 26, 1931, in Rockwell, to Frank and Myrna Pope. Lorraine married Ron Pethick on Sept. 7, 1957, in Mason City, and they were happily married for over 57 years.

After Ron and Lorraine married, they then moved to Keokuk, and later to St Paul, Minn. They moved to Tampa, Fla., where they lived for 10 years before transferring to Pueblo, Colo. In 2006, they relocated to Grand Junction, where Lorraine spent her remaining years.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lloyd Pope and her nephew, Jonathan Pope. She is survived by her devoted husband Ron, of Grand Junction, Colo.; her daughters, Kathleen Pethick, of Tampa, Fla., Kristine (Christopher) Sebring, of Sebring, Fla., and Eileen (Tarek) Arja, of Grand Junction, Colo.; her son, Steven (Laura) Pethick, of Broomfield, Colo.; her favorite grandchildren, Lindsey Sebring, Sara Sebring, Aaron Pethick, Jillian Arja, Nicole Arja, Benjamin Arja, Amber Pethick, and Janelle Pethick; her sisters, Audrey Knowles and Frances (Ron) Theilen; her brothers, Roger (Myrna) Pope and Richard (Caroline) Pope; and her many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and a friend to so many. She was also an avid quilter throughout her life and began knitting scarves after she was diagnosed with cancer last year. The family asks for those who received a handmade scarf from Lorraine to join us in wearing it during her memorial celebration.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at The Crossroads United Methodist Church, located at 599 30 Road, Grand Junction, Colo.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Hope West Hospice, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506, or Crossroads United Methodist Church, 599 30 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
