FOREST CITY | Robert Leo Hadacek, 75, 16520 370th St., Forest City, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at his home.
A funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church, 906 W. O St., Forest City, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Lippstock, the Rev. Dennis Miller and the Rev. Jerome Verdick concelebrating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church, Forest City, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Forest City, with military honors provided by the Forest City American Legion.

Robert was born Nov. 17, 1938, at his home in Duncan, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Martha (Bouska) Hadacek. He graduated from Britt High School in 1956 and graduated from Iowa State Specialty College in 1960. He enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he was on active duty for six months and the reserve for 20 years, ending as Sergeant First Class.
Robert married Sharon Kay Henderson Nov. 18, 1961, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake and to this union five children were born. He worked as a surveyor for the Department of Transportation for 40 years where he helped survey I-35. He also took continuing education courses.
Robert loved his family, especially his grandchildren which he had many pictures of them displayed throughout his home. Robert’s faith was very important to him. He was a member of two churches, St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, Iowa, and Oratory of Our Lady of Ransom, Guckeen, Minn. He attended both churches regularly where he went to daily mass along with attending mass where the Old Latin Rite was celebrated. He also enjoyed building and “tinkering” with woodworking and building projects which included his family homes. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert J. (Marla) Hadacek, Klemme, Iowa, Cathy E. (Jim) Foos, Thompson, Iowa, Lori M. (David) Chaplin, Nampa, Idaho, Thomas J. (Sue Anne) Hadacek, Forest City, and Michael J. (Marlena) Hadacek, Forest City, 14 grandchildren, sister Patricia (Maynard) Juhl, Mason City, brothers-in-law, Danny and David Henderson, sisters-in-law, Cleo and Mary Ellen, and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Martha, wife Sharon Kay (Oct. 5, 2011), two brothers Joseph and Charles, and brother-in-law John Henderson.
