LELAND | Michael D. Krein, 58, of Leland, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland with Lay Minister Jim Mantel officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday (March 6, 2014) at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St. in Forest City.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Michael D. Krein memorial fund in care of the family.
Michael Douglas Krein, the son of Ed and Beverly (Lewis) Krein, was born July 26, 1955, in Mandan, N.D. The family moved to Iowa where Mike attended Forest City schools. He married Sheri Crites and they had a son, Adam Krein. Later the couple divorced. On Sept. 13, 1980, Mike married Susan Brown. Together they had two children, Marissa and Jonathan Krein. Mike worked at Goldy’s Mobil, BJK Industries, and Winnebago Industries. Mike enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, shooting guns, watching the Minnesota Twins, and attending his children’s activities. Mike was very supportive of his children and very proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Krein of Leland; children, Adam (Shanee) Krein of Wichita, Kan., Marissa and Jonathan Krein of Leland; grandsons, Logan and Colby Krein; mother, Beverly Krein of Forest City; siblings, Vicki (Clete) Fruhwirth of Britt, Terry Krein of Leland, Rick (Nancy) Krein of Forest City, Dave (Geradette) Krein of Bokoshe, Okla., Judy (Cliff) Chase of New Port Richey, Fla., Lauri (David) Camacho of Manor, Texas, Cherri Payne (Mike Hourigan) of Round Rock, Texas , Joanie (Kevin) Claxton of Forest City and Lisa (Ken) Bass of White Bear Lake, Minn.; In-laws, Allen and Clarice Brown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Krein; brothers, Roger and Johnny, and nephew, James Fruhwirth.
Arrangements are with Petersen-Lund Funeral Home.
