LATIMER | Mary M. Sandersfeld, age 86, of Latimer passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the Franklin Country View Nursing Home in Hampton.
Funeral services for Mary M. Sandersfeld will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at St. Paul~s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Pastor Travis Berg will officiate. Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.
Visitation for Mary M. Sandersfeld will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday March 2, 2014, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 320 East St. in Latimer, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to the Hospice of North Iowa.
Mary Maxine Sandersfeld was born on May 8, 1927, at Iowa City, to Laura Sandersfeld. She grew up under the care of her aunt and uncle, Karl and Minnie Sandersfeld. Mary was baptized on Oct. 23, 1927, in Klemme. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer on May 28, 1944 by the Rev. R.L. Runge. Mary’s memory verse was “Be content with such things as ye have; for He hath said, ~I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.~” Hebrews 13:5
Mary attended country school and then attended St. Paul’s Christian School, graduating with the class of 1944. After the passing of her uncle and aunt, Mary moved from the farm to the Latimer Manor in 1974. Mary was in the Latimer Manor until October of 2012 when she moved to the Country View Nursing at Hampton.
Mary was a member of the St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Latimer, the Lutheran Layman’s League, the Ladies Mission Society, and enjoyed attending the CAL Over 60s meeting. Mary’s hobbies included doing word puzzles and working on her scrapbook.
Mary is survived by her nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Laura, and her sister, Alma Lindloff.
