Lillian “Lolly” Wier was born July 6, 1922, at Bancroft, Iowa, the daughter of Olaf and Lydia (Rentz) Lund. She lived in Bancroft for nine years and then moved with her parents to LuVerne, where she graduated in 1939. She married John Palmer in 1940. To this union three sons were born, Randy, Curt and Rick Palmer. Lolly and John later divorced.
Lolly took a hotel/motel management course and managed several hotel restaurants for a few years. She later moved to Warren, Michigan, where she became the office manager of the American Federation of Government Employees for nearly five years.
In 1979, she married Ermald Wier and they then moved to Kearney, Nebraska, where they lived for 24 years. In 2003, they moved to Renwick for health reasons to be near family.
Lolly was a good cookie and cinnamon roll baker and no one ever left her home without a sweet treat and coffee. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Lillian died Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove. She was 91.
She is survived by her sons, Randy (Penny) Palmer; Curt (Linda) Palmer all of Renwick; Rick (Kris) Palmer of Luck, WI; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (Walt) Rekward of Davenport; step-daughter, Mardelle (Jim) Leadbetter of Chappell, NE; brother-in-law, Murray (Marge) Wier of Georgetown, TX and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Palmer; second husband, Ermald Wier; two brothers, Adolph and Olaf Lund; four sisters, Florence Nerem, Martha Vaudt, Dorothy Zeigler and Jennie Nerem.
