MASON CITY | Lloyd Abrams Jr., 84, of Mason City, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Good Shepherd Health Center.Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, in the Good Shepherd Health Center Chapel, 302 Second St. N.E., with the Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.Lloyd was born June 30, 1929, in Chapin, the son of Lloyd Eugene and Mabel Mildred (Andrews) Abrams. He graduated from Chapin consolidated school then attended Hamilton Business College. Lloyd served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He married Marcia Mae Rasmussen Dec. 20, 1953, in Clarion. Lloyd worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 37½ years as a railroad agent/telegrapher. He retired July 1, 1989. He then worked part-time for Huffman Transportation and the Mason City Community Schools System as a bus driver.Some of his hobbies included fishing, reading, photography, and spending time with his grandsons. Lloyd also attended St. James Lutheran Church and was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees Inc.Lloyd is survived by his wife, Marcia Mae Abrams of Mason City; a son, Jeffry (Kim) Abrams of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mildred Belle (Randy) Carolus of Mason City and Mary Kay Abrams (Eric Hansen) of New York, New York; three grandchildren, Micheal and Shawn Abrams and Raul Carolus; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Davis of Liscomb; and several nieces and nephews.Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Ryan Abrams; two brothers, Donald and MichaelArrangements: Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N.
