MASON CITY | Delores E. Muller, 93, of Mason City, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Heritage Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Delores Muller Memorial Fund.

Delores was born March 19, 1920, the oldest of seven children, to Wilhelm and Tressa (Ulsted) Otto. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice. Delores graduated from Joice High School in 1938. She worked in Joice at Evan Drug Store, Felland Jewerly, and the post office.
When WW II broke out, Delores moved to Des Moines to work at the Ankeny Ammunition Plant. Delores met Eugene Muller who was from Charles City, and following his discharge from the service they were married on Jan. 5, 1943, in Des Moines. Two children were born, Nancy and Donald. Donald died at age 21 from injuries sustained in a car accident while serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Virginia.
Delores worked in food service for the Mason City School District for 30 years, working at Jefferson Elementary and John Adams Junior High. She retired in 1982. Delores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1946 and an active member of church circle. She also volunteered and was a member of RSVP. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and serving others.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Gary) Merkel of Cushing; granddaughter, Michele (Allan) Eiklenborg of Hampton; grandson, Michael Merkel of Sioux Falls, S.D.; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Nadilee Eiklenborg; stepgreat-granddaughter, Krystle (Ben) Hesse; sister, Helen Groe of Charlottesville, Virginia; brother, Dale Otto of Center, Texas; and several nieces and nephews;
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son, Donald; sisters, Dorothy and Florence; brothers, Carl and Harold; and five brothers-in-law.
