PRAIRIE du CHIEN, Wis. | Mary J. Enabnit, age 73, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

She was born Aug. 19, 1940, in Dubuque, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Naomi (Martelle) Hamilton. She married Fred Rubie in September 1958 and they later divorced. She married Lyle Enabnit in April 1990.

Mary retired from Minnesota Rubber in Mason City after 19 years of service. She then worked at the Prairie du Chien Tourist Information Center and Homeward Bound.

Mary enjoyed camping, her flower garden, baking her famous cookies, candies, bars and breads. She and Lyle enjoyed traveling and spending time at their retirement home in Harlingen, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of Prairie du Chien; her sister Dorothy (William) Janson of Sioux City; her daughter; Cathy (Dan) Chisholm of Mason City; her sons; Fred (Lori) Rubie of Clive, Russ (Amy) Rubie of Winona, Minnesota; grandchildren: Luke, Amanda (Caleb), Chris, Jordan; stepchildren: Julie Schroader of Minneapolis, Joel (Wanita) Enabnit of Mason City, Janella Wood of Springfield, Missouri, Jena (Rudy) Mansfield of Lindenhurst, Illinois; stepgrandchildren: Dexter, Tricia, Wesley, Wendy, Nicholas, Nathan, Walker, Taite.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Christensen officiating. A private family interment will be at a later date.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for a donation to charity in Mary’s name.
