Kermit Darl Zwiefel was born April 13, 1943, in rural Titonka, Iowa, the son of Earl and Marieta (Huber) Zwiefel. He later moved to the Rochester, Minnesota area and graduated from the Rochester John Marshall High School. After his schooling he worked at the Rochester Silo and later in the dairy business near Austin, Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Kathy Schroeder in Rochester, they later divorced. Kermit later married Phyllis Hanrahan in Wisconsin and they divorced in 1993. Kermit moved his dairy farm operation four miles west of Titonka. He lived on the farm from 1978 – 1992, when he moved in to Titonka. He later went to work at Brand FX in Swea City and most recently was working at Monson Salvage near Lone Rock. Kermit recently had moved back to the farm.

Kermit enjoyed shooting guns, woodworking and carpentry work as well as, racing snowmobiles, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and MOPAR vehicles.

Kermit died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at his home near Titonka, Iowa. He was 70.

He is survived by his three sons, Kendall Zwiefel of Lakota; Lex Zwiefel of Titonka; Shane Zwiefel of Lone Rock; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Corrine Olson and her husband Roger of Zearing, Iowa.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marieta and two infant sons.
