GARNER | Viola I. Kropp, 95, of Garner died Thursday Jan. 9, 2014, at Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13, at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner with the Rev. Harvey Opp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Peace Reformed Church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Peace Reformed Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Viola Irene (Kropp) Kropp, the daughter of August and Rosa (Bredlow) Kropp, was born July 26, 1918, on a farm southwest of Garner. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in rural Klemme. She attended country school at Liberty Township No. 2 and also Garner High School.

On May 26, 1941, she was married to Leon Kropp at the Methodist Church parsonage. They lived on various farms in Hancock County and settled in Hayfield in 1967, living there a total of 31 years. In 1998 they moved from the farm into Garner. In 2012, she moved from her home to Prairie View Apartments and in 2013 entered the Concord Care Center.

She loved attending all her grandchildren~s and great grandchildren~s school and church activities, gardening, playing games, coffee with her Hayfield friends, quilting and bowling with her sisters and getting her exercise.

She was a member of Peace Reformed Church and Women~s Missionary Society. She took great joy in attending the North Garner Community Club, Progressive Club, and Homemakers Club.

Viola is survived by her three children, Jerry (Barbara) Kropp of Garner, Janet (Tim) Laugesen of Galesburg, Ill., and Rex (Jennifer) Kropp of Klemme; six grandchildren, Brenda (Grant) Anderson of Garner, Sean Rasmussen of Galesburg, Ill., Kristin (Brendan) Rooney of Culpeper, Va., and Libby, Ethan and Austin Kropp of Klemme; seven great-grandchildren, Derek, Mara, Kylie and Jaelyn Anderson and Lucas, Abigail and Sean Rooney; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, March 1, 2004; her parents; grandchildren, Renae Kropp, June 1, 1971, and Ryan Kropp, Feb. 28, 1986; sisters, Lucille (Floyd ) Drugg, Hilda (Kenneth) Bell, Relma (Max) Finn, Neva (Robert) Hartzell; and brothers, Gilbert (Alice), Barney (Ethel), Orville and Lester Kropp.
