NORTHWOOD | Steven Daniel Selvig, 20, of Northwood, and North Mankato, Minn., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Clarks Grove, Minn.
A funeral service for Steven will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at First Lutheran Church, 309 North Ninth St., Northwood, with Pastor Judy Converse officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
Steven Daniel Selvig was born on June 7, 1993, in Burnsville, Minn., the son of Daniel Selvig and Dawn Stavish. Steven was baptized at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte, S.D. Steven graduated from Platte High School, in Platte, S.D., and was a student at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D.
He enjoyed playing video games on his computer, hunting with his father and friends, barbeque grilling, being with his friends, going to Minnesota Viking and Twins games, and was an avid fan and collector of sports memorabilia, especially the San Antonio Spurs basketball team.
Steven was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and Kappa Sigma Iota Honor Society at Dakota State University.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Daniel Selvig and Dawn Stavish of Mankato, Minn.; his brother, Joseph Selvig of Mitchell, S.D.; his grandparents, Lawrence and Mariella Stavish of Little Falls, Minn.; his uncles and aunts, Duane and Nancy Stavish of Randall, Minn., David and Janice Stavish of Andover, Minn., Dale and Cynthia Stavish of White Bear Lake, Minn., Diane Stavish of Spokane, Wash., Denise Stavish of Spokane, Wash., Rosemary (Selvig) Fall of Mound, Minn., Don and Diane Selvig of Huntley, Minn., Dan and Carol (Selvig) Vandell of Medford, Ore., Ken and Mary Selvig of Apple Valley, Minn., Margaret Selvig of Minneapolis, Minn., Richard Selvig of Northwood, Rebecca Selvig of Minneapolis, Minn., and Peter Selvig of Honolulu, Hawaii; along with many loving cousins and friends.
Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Ruth Selvig.
