ACKLEY | Betty Kay Beving, age 80, of Ackley, died on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley with inurnment in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Betty Kay Beving was born on Aug. 24, 1933, in Webster City, the daughter of Vernon and Katherine (Hayward) Furrow. She went to elementary school in Webster City. Her family moved to Iowa Falls in 1947 when her father opened his second lumber yard which was the beginning of the family owned Payless Cashway Lumber chain. She graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1951. She was married to James Lyman in 1951 and later divorced. On Dec. 20, 1975, Betty was united in marriage to Russell Beving.

Betty was a lifelong Girl Scout and served on the North Iowa Girl Scout Council for 14 years. She served as elder in church; was a member of the Ladies Guild; and served on Board of Directors of the Presbyterian Village Foundation. She enjoyed collecting P. Buckley Moss and egg items. Her hobbies were making jewelry, sewing, shopping and spending time with her family. She enjoyed spending the winter months in her home in Tucson, Ariz.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Rick (Kathy) Lyman of Iowa Falls, Randy (Edna) Lyman of Iowa Falls and Rob (Robin) Lyman of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Cindy (Ron) Ellingson of Wellsburg; two stepdaughters, Denise (Chris) Richtsmeier of Ackley and Cindy Beving of Keller, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Kyle (Tara Huey) Lyman, Trent Lyman, Casey (Laura) Lyman, Josh Lyman, Ryan (Kelly) Ellingson, Chad Ellingson, Jessica (Adam) Swarts, Brandy (Chris) Goedken, Kalli (Ethan Bonin) Lyman, Liz (Adam) Brannick, Ashley (John) Bisenius and Casi Richtsmeier; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Anne Furrow of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Bill (Laurie) Furrow of Medford, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Russell in January 2013.
