Nadine Elizabeth Mae, was born February 18, 1922, in a house 3.5 miles south of Riceville to Thomas and Anna (Kapka) House. She attended grade school and high school in Riceville, graduating in 1939. After completing Normal Training, she taught one year in a one room country school southeast of Riceville.

She was united in marriage to Harlan Noble on June 30, 1941. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Glendale, California, where Harlan worked at Lockheed-Vega Aircraft Company building airplanes. In 1943, they moved back to rural Riceville to farm. In 1985, they moved into their new house in town.

Nadine was active in the community and participated in many activities which included serving as a 4-H Girls Leader, the first woman on Riceville School Board, several years as an election board official, a member of the initial Riceville Community Center committee, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Garden Club. She was a member of the Mitchell County Chorus which performed in Washington DC. After her children had grown, she worked at Riceville Sale Barn for seven years.

Nadine was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Riceville. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at the church. She was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Ladies Aide, and a participant in bible studies.
Nadine enjoyed watching all of her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities. She kept scrap books and photo albums of the family. She and Harlan enjoyed traveling in the United States and other countries, spending 15 winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona.
Nadine passed away at the age of 91 on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Nadine is survived by Lee and Mary Ann Deutsche of Monee, IL; sons: Doug of Jefferson, SD, Robert (Jayne), and Tim (Sheryl) of Riceville; grandchildren: Monica (Tim) Sartori, Darren Deutsche, Amy Deutsche, Kyle (Kelly) Deutsche, Shantelle Noble, Trevor Noble, Andrea Adams (Jeff), Amanda (Bryce) Conway, Dustin Noble (Bethany), Mathew Noble (Meredith), Nicholas Noble (Kelli), Michelle Noble (Sawyer), and seven great grandchildren. She is survived by brothers-in-law Weston, Lowell (Dixie), Dale (Alice), and Joe; sisters-in-law JoAnn Noble and Evelyn S. Noble.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harlan of 71 years; parents; step-father Frank Reckner; daughter Sharon Deutsche; sister Geraldine (Jerry) Foster; grandson Lucas Noble; great granddaughter Marissa Sartori, brother-in-law Russell Noble; and sister-in-law Evelyn L. Noble.

Friends may call from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, Iowa on Monday, January 20, 2014.

Service:
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Peter~s Lutheran Church in Riceville.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. No photo
