Donovan M. Juveland, 81, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with Pastor Scott Duffus officiating.
Visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, January 20, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills.
Donovan Merlin Juveland was born on September 1, 1932, to Melvin and Gladys (Martinson) Juveland on the home farm in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa. He attended school in Lake Mills and graduated from high school in 1950.
He was united in marriage to Louella Schisel, to this union a daughter was born, Nancy A. Juveland. Luella passed away in 1956.
Donovan later married Edna Stehn on September 1, 1972, in Lake Mills.
Donovan enjoyed faming, tending to his livestock and having coffee with family, friends and neighbors. Most days, Donovan traveled the area in search of treasures at local auctions. Going to auctions was a favorite pastime and hobby. He enjoyed finding unique treasures and loved to carry them in his pocket for show and tell during the next coffee time. Donovan was an avid NASCAR fan and hated to miss a race.
He is survived by his grandsons, Donald Holtan and Jason (Abby) Holtan; great-granddaughters, Alyssa, Chelsey, Madison, Becca and Tori; brothers, Roger (Carol) Juveland and Earl Juveland (special friend Evelyn); step-son Dan Stehn; step-daughter Kathy Stehn; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gladys Juveland; his brother Ardell Juveland; his first wife Louella; his second wife Edna; his daughter Nancy Holtan; son-in-law Terry Holtan; sister-in-law Lorraine Juveland; and step-sons Jim Stehn and Ron Stehn.
Donovan will be greatly missed.
