TRAER | Rudy Edward Wieck, of Traer, Iowa, died at the age of 84 on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

A celebration of life gathering will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Traer Golf and Country Club, and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Clear Lake Yacht Club.

In lieu of flowers, direct memorials to the Traer Development Corporation or the Lions Field Development Project.

Rudy Edward Wieck was born on April 11, 1930, in Buckingham, Iowa, the son of Fred “Fritz” and Margaret (Petersen) Wieck. Rudy grew up in Traer and graduated from Traer High School. He then attended Drake University. In 1950, he was united in marriage to Wanda Mae Paul. The couple made their home in Traer. Rudy took over the Wieck Brother’s Oil Company in Traer from his father and his uncle. He also had seats on the New York Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade. Rudy enjoyed sailing, playing golf, playing bridge, watching the Clear Lake Football Team on Friday nights, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Rudy is survived by two daughters, Ann (Dan) Schmitt of Traer and Nancy (Rip) Marston of Cedar Falls; a son, Fred (Kay) Wieck of Clear Lake; a sister, Mary Ellen Barnes of Traer; a brother, Gary (Marie) Wieck of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
