EASTON, Minn. | Rose Mary Stevermer, age 85, of Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Easton, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Augustana Care Center, Apple Valley, Minn.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, Minn.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Father Thomas Niehaus will officiate and interment will be OLMC Cemetery, Barber Twp., Faribault Co., Minn. Rose Mary was born July 16, 1928, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Mullin) Kelly in Britt. She graduated from Britt High School and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College for two years. Rose Mary taught in Iowa until her marriage. On Aug. 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Alton Stevermer at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Britt. Rose Mary taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School for many years, and she was deeply religious. She enjoyed reading, baking, and she loved her sweets. Rose Mary also enjoyed watching basketball, wrestling, and baseball—she was an avid Twins fan. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Rose Mary is survived by 5 children: Mary Jo (Rick) Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., Pat (Sherry) Stevermer of Savage, Minn., Greg (Annie) Stevermer of Rochester, Minn., Donna Stevermer of Farmington, Minn., and Laura Stevermer of Savage, Minn.; 9 grandchildren: Mandy, Chris, Dan, Katie, Rebecca, Zachary, Clare, Xavier and Dominic; siblings Arlene McDermott, Paul Kelly, Teresa (Ray) Rottinghaus and sister-in-law Bonnie Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alton; siblings Bob (Van) Kelly, Francis Kelly, Joe (Noreen) Kelly; bother-in-law Ed McDermott and sister-in-law Marlys Kelly.
