Phyllis Ann Barr, 84, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.

She was born on January 14, 1930 in Linden, Iowa, to George and Elizabeth (Turner) Westcot. Phyllis graduated from Dawson High School in 1947. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Joseph Vincent Barr on June 2, 1951 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Phyllis worked as a ward secretary at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

She was a devoted and active member of St. Patrick~s Catholic Church in Hampton. Phyllis was also a member of the Iowa Questers, Red Hat Society, Mothers Club, and a Life Member of the Franklin General Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, needle work, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. Phyllis was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Larry) Stoltenberg of Palmdale, California, daughter Theresa (James) Lynch of Cedar Rapids, daughter Patricia “Trish” Barr of Lafayette, Colorado, son Michael (Laura) Barr of Marion, grandchildren Scot (Melanie) Stoltenberg, Craig Stoltenberg, Sarah (Joe) Zecca, David (Holland) Stoltenberg, Joseph Lynch, Anne Lynch, Hailee Barr, and Kelsey Barr, great grandchildren Jenna, Evan and Luke.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, three infant children, parents, and brother (Sidney).

Burial will take place at the St. Patrick~s Catholic Church Cemetery in Dougherty, Iowa.
