Funeral services for Kevin L Koenigs, 23, of Stacyville, who
died Saturday, May 31, 2003, of injuries he received in an auto
accident near Little Cedar, were held Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at
Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Fr. Mark Reasoner
officiating.
Kevin was born August 13, 1979 in Osage, the son of Kenneth and
Veronica (Adams) Koenigs. He attended Visitation Catholic School
in Stacyville and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1998.
He worked as a D. J. with Heartland Express and was a bar tender
at the Hang Out in Riceville. He enjoyed music, snowmobiling,
four wheeling, being with his friends and his dog, Sparky.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Veronica Koenigs
of Stacyville; three brothers, Brian Koenigs of Stacyville,
Craig Koenigs of Cresco, and Scott Koenigs of Stacyville;
paternal grandfather Al Koenigs of Stacyville; many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clara and
Ernest Adams, and paternal grandmother, Olive Koenigs.
Interment will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.
Fatality in one vehicle accident

There was a one vehicle accident Sunday, one mile west
of Little Cedar on Ocean Avenue, just south of the black
top that runs from Monument Avenue to Little Cedar.
Killed in the accident was Kevin J. Koenigs of
Stacyville, a 1998 graduate of St. Ansgar High School.
Units from the St. Ansgar Rescue Squad, Stacyville Fire
Department and Mitchell County Sheriff responded to the
accident. |
Alda Krahn
Clausen

Funeral services for Alda Krahn Clausen, 89, who died Friday,
May 30, 2003, at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage, were held on
Monday, June 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev.
Christian F. Gugel officiating.
Alda Helen Minnie Ahrens was born May 14, 1914, on the family
farm west of Osage, the daughter of Richard and Alma (Frese)
Ahrens. She was baptized June 7, 1914, and confirmed on August
25, 1929 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Osage.
Alda married Elroy Krahn on January 8, 1935. They had four
children. Elroy passed away October 10, 1956.
On August 6, 1977, Alda married Claus Clausen from Mason City,
and they lived there until his death December 12, 1993. Later,
she moved back to Osage. Alda loved to cook, take care of her
family and spend time with her grandchildren.
Alda is survived by her children, three sons, Richard Krahn and
wife Rosalie of Osage; Gene Krahn and wife Katrene of Osage; and
Ronald Krahn and wife Suzanne of Nora Springs; daughter, Myrna
Hoisington and husband Howard of Orchard; 11 grandchildren; one
step granddaughter; 14 great grandchildren four step
grandchildren; a brother Earl Ahrens of Osage; four step
children, Delmar Clausen and wife Violet; Janice Atkinson, Donna
Lawson and Magie Nashiem, several step grandchildren and step
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and an
infant sister, Erna.
Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Neal
Fossey

Funeral
services for Neal Richard Fossey, 46, St. Ansgar, who died on
Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center,
Osage, will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Deer
Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with AIM Intern Irmgard
Ellingson officiating.
Neal was born November 5, 1956, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of
Leo and Joan (Bridgeman) Fossey. He was baptized and confirmed
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota. Neal grew up
in rural St. Ansgar and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in
1975, and continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community
College in Emmetsburg, Iowa, studying agriculture.
Neal was united in marriage to Cindy Johnson on July 11, 1981,
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle, by the Rev. Harold Luecke.
Three children were born to this union, Eric, Heidi and
Benjamin. For all their married life Neal and Cindy were members
of Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter.
Neal enjoyed all aspects of, sports, whether playing softball or
basketball with family, and friends; coaching his children's
teams; or spectating in his spare time. He treasured the time he
spent with his wife and children. He loved taking care of his
livestock and enjoyed everyday to the fullest up until the end,
when he died doing that he loved, playing basketball.
Neal is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Eric and Heidi of
Carpenter and Ben at home; mother Joan Fossey of St. Ansgar;
brothers Gary and wife Barb and son Bryan of St. Ansgar; Joel
and wife Connie and children Luke and Colby of St. Ansgar;
sisters, Lori Hatten and husband Jim and children Michael,
Melissa and Amy of Jackson, Minnesota; Lana Blaser and husband
Jim and children Brent, Katie and Javme of Stacyville:
father-in- law Tiny Johnson and special friend Judy Olson of
Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Tim Johnson and wife Renae and
children Kayla, Kally, Nicole and Landon of Carpenter; Joe
Johnson and wife Teresa and children, Adam, Emily and Dylan of
St. Ansgar; sisters-in-law, Robin Bauers and husband Spike and
children Zane and Darby of Northwood; and Christy School and
husband Dean and children, Cody, Haley and Shelby of St. Ansgar;
many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Fossey;
mother-in-law Lucille Johnson; sister-in-law Kathy Johnson;
maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.
Norval
Jensen

Funeral services for Norval C. Jensen, 90, of Osage, who died on
Sunday, June 15, 2003 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center,
will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at our Savior's
Lutheran Church, Osage, with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott
officiating.
Norval Jensen was born March 26, 1913 on the family farm near
St. Ansgar, the son of Bert and Matie (Hansen) Jensen. He
graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Norval farmed on the
family farm. He was well known for the strawberries they raised.
He was a crop duster, and was employed as an auto mechanic at
Jorde Motors in Osage.
He married Erena Dettmann in 1941 and to this union four
children were born: Russell, Marvin, Dolores, and Joanne. Erena
died in 1970. He was united in marriage to Thelma Birum in 1981.
In 1986 they moved to Osage. Thelma died in 2000.
Norval is survived by two sons, Russell Jensen of St. Ansgar;
Marvin Jensen (Kathryn) of Penland, North Carolina; two
daughters, Dolores Petrak (Gary) of Minburn, Iowa; Joanne
Kleinwort (Edward) of St. Ansgar; a brother Harlan Jensen
(Naomi) of Fort Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a sister
Avis Loffgreen, and a grandson, Harley Jensen.
Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery in Osage.

Meyerhofer

Funeral
services for Rose A. Meyerhofer, age 80, of Osage, who died on
Tuesday, June 17, 2003, were held on Saturday, June 21 at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. Philip Recker
officiating.
Rose was born on January 21, 1923, in Walters, Minnesota, the
daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Fischer) Schmidt. She was
united in marriage to Clemence "Clem" Meyerhofer on April 9,
1947 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek, Minnesota.
They farmed in Stacyville until their retirement in 1981 when
they retired and moved to Osage. Clem died August 15,1998.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and active in
the church choir and various church activities. She was an avid
card player (bridge and canasta) and was an avid baker who
enjoyed sharing her baked goods. Her greatest joys were her
family and friends.
Rose is survived by four daughters: Sister Nancy Meyerhofer of
San Diego, California; Arlene Erickson (Lowell) of Kenyon,
Minnesota; Bea Young of Altadena, California and Peggy
Meyerhofer of Kenyon, Minnesota; four sons, Nick Meyerhofer
(Cheri) of Flagstaff, Arizona; Roger Meyerhofer (Wanda) of
Owatonna, Minnesota; Ben Meyerhofer of Britt; Andy Meyerhofer
(Liz) of Osage; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four
sisters, Theresa Heimerman (John) Blooming Prairie, Minnesota;
Catherine Jenkins of Grapeview, Washington; Alice Bulson of
Faribault, Minnesota; Dorothy Swehl (Ron) of Prescott, Arizona;
a brother, Ben Schmidt (Mary) of Owatonna, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clem; four
brothers, Carl, George, Joe and Tony Schmidt; a sister Marie
Theissen; a son-in-law, James Young.
Burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage.

Funeral services for Dallas Rowe, 86, of Osage, who died on
Saturday, June 14, 2003 in Mason City, were held Tuesday, June
17 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, with Rev. Dennis
Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating.
Dallas was born January 30, 1917 in St. Ansgar, the daughter of
Emil and Sadie (Klein) Nack. She attended school in Mitchell.
Dallas was united in marriage to Lester N. Rowe on November 17,
1936. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage,
and helped with many church dinners and fundraisers for the
building of the church. She was a member of the Esther Circle
and was a member of the Sunshine Club, and served as
chairperson, secretary and treasurer. Dallas enjoyed baking,
cooking, gardening and flowers. She loved spending time with her
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dallas is survived by her husband Lester N. Rowe of Osage; two
sons, Jerald Rowe and wife Pat of Seward, Alaska; David J. Rowe
and wife Jane of Osage; eight grandchildren: Brian Rowe, Leslie
Altac, Donna Leffler, Lynn Swenson, Thyra Burke, Christopher
Rowe, Mary Anna Rowe, and Joseph Rowe; nine great grandchildren;
a brother Dan Nack of Osage; brother-in-law Alan Rowe and wife
Phyllis of Port Orchard, Washington; three sisters-in-law, Alice
Nack of Osage; Marvel Kubicek of Osage; and Kathleen Rowe of
McGregor, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald (Bud)
Nack; sister Dolores Nack Sipe; sister-in-law Rosella Nack; and
a grandson, Jon David Rowe.
Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Funeral services for Laurine Rasmus, 76, of Garner, who died
Saturday, June 14, 2003, in Mason City, were held on Wednesday,
June 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with the Rev.
Robert Bronson officiating.
Laurine Mata August Rasmus, daughter of Grover Oscar Lawrence
and Dorothea Marie (Eske) Halverson, was born March 8, 1927 in
St. Ansgar. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran
Church, St. Ansgar, by Rev. Paul Brammer. She attended school at
St. Ansgar and was valedictorian of her graduating class of
1945. She received her Lab and X-ray technician degree from the
Minnesota Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Eldon Rasmus on March 25,
1951 at St. Ansgar Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. H. C.
Walters. For all 52 years of their married life they resided in
Garner, where she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Laurine first worked as an x-ray and lab technician at Forest
City Municipal Hospital, a bookkeeper for Yohn Ready Mix in
Garner, and did baby sitting for area families.
Laurine loved to knit and crochet. Her two dogs, Keisha and
Mitsi, were her pride and joy. She was a Yankee fan and loved
following her nieces and nephews athletic events.
Laurine is survived by her husband Wayne of Garner; a sister
Dorothy Hegland of St. Ansgar; a brother-in-law Warren Rasmus
and wife Helen of Garner; a sister-in-law Arlene Rasmus of
Garner; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother
Wilmer; and two brothers-in-law, J. W. (Bill) Hegland and Dean
Rasmus.
Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Casket
bearers were Michael, David, Timothy, James Hegland, Ross Hannam
and Ryan Hannam.
Donald
Hemann

Funeral services for Donald Hemann, 68, of Stacyville, who died
on Saturday, June 14, 2003, were held on Wednesday, June 18,
2003 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with Rev. Marvin
Salz, Rev. John Hemann and Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating.
Donald Hemann was born on August 20, 1934 in Stacyville, the son
of Anton and Alvina (May) Hemann. He graduated from Visitation
High School in 1952 as the class president and also attended
Loras College. He entered the armed services and served with the
U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. In 1956 Donald married Roma Salz.
He farmed for 35 years. He was a past president of the school
board and the Stacyville Nursing Home and past Grand Knight of
the K of C, a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, and
past Farm Bureau Board member.
Donald is survived by his wife Roma of Stacyville; five sons,
Quentin of Stacyville; Randy (Lynne) of Rochester, Minnesota;
Paul of St. Paul, Minnesota; Tim (Kari) of Newton, Iowa, and
Jamie of New Brighton, Conn.; four daughters, Lori (Mike) Heimer
of Stewartville, Minnesota; Lois (Dan) Stromley of Rockwell,
Iowa; Lu Wilford of Coralville, Iowa; Lana (Scott) Sellner of
Northfield, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; one sister, Alice Gerk
of Osage; four brothers, Harry of Osage, Vernon of Des Moines;
Marvin of Stacyville; and Robert of Emmetsburg, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Irene
Small.
Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery with military honors by
the Hale Penny Fuller Post #569 of the American Legion.
