Warren M. Fiedler
Warren (Nifty) M. Fiedler, 95, of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday,
May 2, 1995, at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City. Funeral
services were held Friday, May 5, at the Ward-Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dan Pietrzyk of
First Covenant Church, Mason City, officiating.
Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. The family
suggests memorials in his name.
Warren was born Dec. 29, 1899 in Chicago, Ill., the son of
John and Dena (Deudorf) Fiedler. In his early teens he moved
to Conrad, Iowa, and later to the Ventura, Iowa, area.
On July 10, 1926, he married Helen Dawson in Clear Lake. They
farmed north of Ventura for many years. Warren later worked for
Woodford-Wheeler Lumber Company in Clear Lake and Meservey, Iowa
for 11 years. He retired in 1979 and moved to Mason City. In 1988
due to ill health he moved into the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Fiedler, Mason City; three
children, Virginia Farris, Clarion, Iowa, Merle Fiedler,
Alexander, Iowa, and Edna Ruppelt and her husband, Wallace,
Mason City; one sister, Hazel Kohel, Deameron, Md; 11 grand-children;
12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edna Fiedler;
and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were Craig Ruppelt, Russ Fiedler, Roger Farris,
John Ruppelt, Ronnie Fiedler, Dick Ueker.
Curtis Eugene Monson
Curtis Eugene Monson, 66, of Clear Lake, died Saturday,
May 6, 1995, at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, at the Zion Lutheran
Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial
was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, Clear Lake was in charge of arrangements.
Curtis Eugene Monson was born May 28, 1928, in Mt. Valley Township
in Winnebago County near Leland, the son of Clifford T. and Elma C.
(Helgeland) Monson. He attended and received his education in the
Leland School System. After completing his formal education he
began working for the Gjellefald Construction Company in Forest City.
On Feb. 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Alice Deborn at the
Little Brown Church in Nashua. After their marriage they moved
to Eugene, Ore., where he was a heavy equipment operator on the
Look Out Point Dam until 1952, when they moved to Forest City,
Iowa, joining the International Union of Operating Engineers
working for various construction companies as a heavy equipment
operator until his retirement on June 1, 1991. After his
retirement he worked part-time as a crane operator for Andrews
Prestressed Concrete Inc., and Dean Snyder Construction Company
both in Clear Lake.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and for the past 10 years he and his
wife Alice were actively involved with the North Iowa Huskies Hockey
Team in Mason City.
Curtis was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake
and the International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO #234.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Monson, Clear Lake; three sons,
Richard Monson and his wife, Lee, Cedar Rapids, Cliff Monson and
his wife, Carol, Clear Lake, and Wayne Monson and his wife,
Royce, Clear Lake; nine grandchildren, Shane, Karin, Chris,
Scott, Jon, Tim, Ray, Eric and Melissa Monson; two sisters,
Geraldine Larson, Seattle, Wash., and Kathy Steiert and her
husband, Jerry, Osage; one brother, Ron Monson, of Clear Lake;
as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother,
Stanford Monson.
Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Larry Shaffer.
Honorary pallbearers were many friends and neighbors. Pallbearers
were grandchildren, Shane Monson, Jon Monson, Ray Monson,
Chris Monson, Scott Monson, Tim Monson, Eric Monson.
Alma Irene Ouverson
Mrs. Alma Irene Ouverson, 90, of Clear Lake, died Saturday,
May 6, 1995, at her home.
Memorial services will be held today (Wednesday), May 10,
at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Fred Lewis officiating, of Clear Lake United Methodist
Church. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason
City, Iowa. The family suggests memorials to the Alma Irene
Ouverson memorial fund.
Alma was born March 31, 1905 in South Shore, S.D., and moved
with her family to Freeport, Ill.
She married Richard Trizulny on Oct. 14, 1922 in Freeport, Ill.
Alma moved to the Fertile and Clear Lake area in 1939. She
married Leo Ouverson on April 21, 1940. He preceded her in
death in 1962. She practiced reflexology in the Clear Lake
area for 26 years. Alma was a member of the Clear Lake V.F.W.
Auxiliary Post #4868.
She is survived by a son, William Trizulny and his wife, Bernice,
Mason City; one daughter, Margaret MacLean and her husband,
Jerry, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Linda Taylor,
Richard Trizulny, Terry Saitta, Dan Trizulny, Danette Czachor,
Celeste Portor, and Brett MacLean; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one
grandson, Robert Trizulny.
Edna May Lawrence
Mrs. Edna May Lawrence, formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday,
May 8, 1995, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus,
Mason City, Iowa.
A private memorial and graveside service will be held at a later
date in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel,
Clear Lake, is in charge of arrangements. Edna was born in
Griswold, Iowa, on Sept. 5, 1903.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Lawrence, San Antonio,
Texas and Jacque McCaffrey, San Diego, Calif.; three
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband,
Dr. Charles Curtis Lawrence.
John Quinn Nelson
Mr. John Quinn Nelson, 60, of Clear Lake,
died Sunday, May 7, 1995,
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center....

John was born Feb. 4, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son
of
Galey and Lona (Quinn) Nelson. He attended school in
Des Moines, Iowa.
He helped coach football at St. Joseph's Elementary
School in Marion,
Iowa. John enjoyed water skiing, and fishing in his
younger days
and enjoyed going to all types of spectator sports.
John moved
to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, on March 8, 1977.
On
Sept. 16, 1987 he moved to the group home and on April
1, 1993,
moved into the apartment he lived in until his death.
John worked for Village Vocational Work program and was
employed
at Cole Sewell and the production area at the Village.
He loved
getting together with his family and keeping in touch
with
family and friends. John attended St. Patrick's
Catholic Church,
Clear Lake, and was a member of North Iowa Lions
Club.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Kay Murphy and her
husband,
Bill, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ruth Smith and her
husband, Bill,
Westlake Village, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister,
Polly Brauer.
Robert J. Hill
Robert J. (Bob) Hill, 66, of Ventura,
Iowa, died Tuesday,
May 9, 1995, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East
Campus,
Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday,
May 13,
at the Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Larry
Yeoman
officiating. Military honors were given by the Clear
Lake V.F.W.
Interment will be at a later date. The family suggests
memorials
to the Robert J. Hill memorial fund.
Bob was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on July 7, 1928, the
son of
Charlie Hill and Vernal Hill (nee) Randall. He
attended school
in Clear Lake and Ventura. He worked on farms and did
odd jobs in
the Clear Lake area until he entered the Navy during the
Korean War.
On July 14, 1951, he married Charlotte Hayes in San
Diego, Calif.,
while he was in the service. They moved back to Clear
Lake in
May 1952 and Ventura in November 1956. Bob worked for
Northern Natural Gas until his retirement in May 1984.
He loved
his horses and showed horses for many years, and also
did sign
painting. Bob loved grilling out with the family, his
many friends,
and most of all his grandchildren. He was a member of
the Clear Lake
V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hill, Ventura; one
son
T. Sgt. Tim Hill and his wife, Linda, Oxford, England,
and
their daughter, Amy Louise Hill; one daughter, Becky
Bergan
and her husband, Larry, Hanlontown, Iowa, and their two
sons,
Alex and Jacob Bergan; two brothers, Richard Hill and
his wife,
Ruth, Clear Lake, and George Hill and his wife, Merridy,
Mason City; one sister, Dorothy Gobeli, Clear Lake; a
sister-in-law, Madeline Hill, Waterloo, Iowa; many
nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother,
Earl Hill.

Bernice Thelma Kottler
Bernice Thelma Kottler, 84, died Tuesday,
May 9, 1995, at the
Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services
were held
May 13, at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmond, Iowa, with
the
Rev. David Pestel officiating. Interment was at the
Belmond
Cemetery, Belmond.
Bernice was born Jan. 21, 1911, in Belmond, the daughter
of
Gus and Lydia Cramer Ziska. She attended Belmond
schools.
On February 20, 1949 she was united in marriage to
Lester Kottler
in Belmond. The couple made their home in Belmond. In
1962 they
moved to Clear Lake. Lester preceded her in death in
1980. Bernice
moved back to Belmond where she lived in the McBurney
Apartments.
She entered Belmond Care Center where she lived until
moving into
the Riverside Manor in Ames. She liked to sew and
quilt, and was
most remembered for her sewing.
She was survived by a daughter, Dawn Kottler, Ames; a
sister,
Dorothy Johnstone, Hob Sound, Fla.; and one
sister-in-law,
Gladys Kottler of Clarion, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
a
daughter Holly Ann; a brother, Lyle; and a sister,
Mildred.

Wayne Spilman,
Dean Snyder, Leo Lallier, Robert Wolfram, Gerald
Buck.

Myrtle Augusta Cole Ogden
Funeral services will be held Wednesday,
May 10, for
Myrtle Augusta Cole Ogden, formerly of Clear Lake. She
died
Sunday, May 7, 1995 at Good Shepherd Health Center in
Mason City,
Iowa.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10,
at
Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Interment will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
Myrtle Augusta Cole Ogden was born Sept. 11, 1899 near
St. Ansgar.
She was one of five children of Ida Nack Cole and Henry
Cole. She
attended local schools and as a young girl helped to
nurse
Mary Odgen back to health. There, she met the Ogden
son, Billie,
who later became her husband. They were married July
26, 1919
in the Methodist parsonage in St. Ansgar. Myrtle and
Billie farmed
in the Otranto and St. Ansgar communities until 1945,
when they
retired to Mason City.
In 1990, she moved to The Meadows in Clear Lake. The
last four
years she was a resident of the Good Shepherd in Mason
City.
Myrtle was a meticulous homemaker, raising and
preserving a large
garden and enjoying beautiful roses. Her many family
and friends
were always welcome for coffee and her delicious
home-baked rolls.
She was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist
Church, A
Methodist Church Circle, the Tuckabachee Club in Mason
City,
and the Carpenter Legion Auxillary of the Ogden-Nelson
Post which
was named for her son, Lt. Merle V. Ogden, who was
killed in a
World War II plane crash in 1944.

Arnold D. Moeller
Arnold D. Moeller, 84, Clear Lake, died
Monday, May 15, 1995, at
the Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Funeral services were
held
Thursday, May 18, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel,
Clear Lake,
with Msgr. Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Interment
was in the
Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. The family suggests
memorials to
the Arnold D. Moeller Memorial Fund.
Arnold was born Nov. 30, 1910, at Harris, Iowa, the son
of G.W.
and Hilda (Kruse) Moeller. He graduated from Clear Lake
High
School in 1928, attended Mason City Junior College and
University
of Iowa.

He married Ruth Anderson on Aug. 4, 1934. Arnold was
employed as
manager of the Basket Grocery in Clear Lake before
starting the
Moeller Shoe and Clothing business at 313 Main Ave. He
served in
the United States Army during World War II and was
stationed in
Italy. Arnold retired in 1977 after 42 years in
business. During
the next twelve years, he and Ruth spent winters in Fort
Myers, Fla.,
and summers at Clear Lake. He was an active member of
the Clear Lake
Noon Lions Club for over 55 years and was a member of
the Clear Lake
V.F.W. and the American Legion. In 1958, he was
Commodore of the
Clear Lake Yacht Club.
He is survived by his son Michael Moeller and his wife,
Beverly,
Sioux City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Mary Moeller, Clear
Lake;
six grandchildren, Ann Rickord, John Moeller, Richard
Moeller,
Stephanie Moeller, Mark Moeller and Michael Moeller;
four
great-grandchildren, Michelle Moeller, Benjamin
Moeller,
Andrew Moeller, Brett Rickord; two sisters-in-law,
Phyllis Anderson, Clear Lake, and Delores Beedle, Great
Falls,
Mont.; two brothers, Armand Moeller and his wife,

Ruth Loney
Ruth Loney, died at her home in Little Cedar, Iowa,
May 13, 1995. Ruth was born and raised on a farm near
Janesville, Iowa, where she attended country school and
graduated from Janesville High School. She
attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and
completed her education at Upper Iowa University,
receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education.

George H. Hanson
George H. Hanson, 69,
of Altoona, and former resident of
Clear Lake, died of cancer at Mercy Hospital Medical
Center.
Mr. Hanson was born in Appleton, Wis. He formerly owned
Jim Dandy's
Bar and was a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Patricia Jane Ruigh,
73, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, died Tuesday,
May 23, 1995, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, at
First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, with the
Rev. David Dailey officiating. Interment was at Union
Cemetery,
Iowa Falls. Patricia was born Nov. 1, 1921 in Clear
Lake, the
daughter of Earl Willson and Gretchen Wolfe. She
graduated from
Clear Lake High School in 1940.
Patricia graduated from Coe [?] College with a music
degree and
taught music at Thornton Schools. She also taught
private music
lessons.
On March 29, 1947, she married Donald Ruigh, in Mason
City.
Patricia was a member of ETUDE, Parchment, United
Methodist Women,
the library board, hospital guild and worship
committee. She was
on the cover of School Musician Magazine when she was
National Trombone Champion.
She was the church organist for 25 years, and was an
active member
of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Falls.
Patricia was a
devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, Iowa Falls; two
sons,
Dale E. Ruigh and his wife, Cindy, Ames, Iowa, and David
D. Ruigh
and his wife, Susan, Farmington, Conn.; two daughters,
Mary J. Mittelstadt and her husband, Mark, East Windsor,
N.J.,
and Patricia S. Scott and her husband, Patrick,
Minneapolis, Minn.;
a sister, Joyce Jungjohann, Savanah, Ill.; four
grandchildren,
Matt and Brent Mittelstadt, and Katie Ruigh and Stephen
Ruigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
