Mildred Orva Boe
July 6, 2006
Mildred Orva Boe, 84, died on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at
her home in Jewell.
Funeral services were held on
Thursday, July 6, at the Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. Burial followed
in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Randall.
Mildred Orva Owenson Boe, was
born at home in Randall on February 16, 1922, the daughter of Orville
and Myrtle Johnson Owenson. She was the second child in a family of five
girls and five boys. Being one of the eldest children in a large family
meant contributing with chores and looking after younger siblings. Her
assignment was to clean the milk separator daily.
She grew up in rural Randall,
was baptized and confirmed at the Elim Lutheran Church, and graduated
from the Randall High School in 1940. Mildred continued her education
and graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. She operated
her own salon in Story City until becoming a farm wife.
Mildred and Clifford Jacobson Boe, were married on July 6, 1945, and started a life together on a farm
west of Story City. Her life revolved around the Rosendale neighborhood,
keeping busy with ladies aid, teaching Bible and Sunday School at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, motherhood, and helping with farm tasks.
She together with Clifford
raised one daughter, Cathryn.
They continued farming together
until moving to Jewell in 1976. Mildred then put her knowledge of sewing
to good use working in the Story City Ben Franklin Store. She would also
keep busy volunteering at the South Hamilton School with the reading
program, and did child care in her home.
She is survived by one
daughter, Cathryn Elkin and husband, Wayne of Clarion; two
grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Eller of Colorado Springs, Colorado
and Delores Thompson of Webster City; two brothers, Curtis Owenson of
Story City and David Owenson of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law; cousins;
and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; husband; two sisters, Gladys Holm and Charlotte Brown; and
three brothers, Orville Owenson Jr., Peter Owenson and Carroll Owenson.

Eldon L. Moats
July 13, 2006
Eldon L. Moats, 77, of Waverly, died on Sunday, July 2,
2006 at his home.
Funeral services were held on
Thursday, July 6, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Pastor
Joyce Sandberg officiated at the 11:00 a.m. service. Burial was in the
Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Eldon L. Moats, was born on June
2, 1929 in Clarion, the son of Ben and Edna (Caquelin) Moats. He
graduated from the Woolstock High School in 1946, attended Jr. College
in Webster City for a year, and then worked for several businesses in
Webster City.
On August 3, 1951, he was
united in marriage to Donna Anderson at the First Lutheran Church in
Clarion. The couple made their home in Ames where Eldon continued his
education at Iowa State University. They returned to Webster City, where
their first three children were born, Kathy, Gary and Nancy. He worked
in the engineering department for Beam Manufacturing, then later for a
boat manufacturer and scoreboard manufacturing company in Webster City.
In 1957, the family moved to Waverly, where Eldon had accepted a
position in the engineering department of Schield-Bantam and where their
fourth child, Troy was born. Eldon retired in 1990. Since the early
1960's, he had been heavily involved with the Boy Scouts of America,
serving as a Leader of Troop 69 as well as leadership roles on the
district level.
Eldon was a longtime, faithful
member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly where he had served
on the Church Council and the offering counting committee. He was a
member and past president of the Waverly Lion's Club, and over the years
enjoyed trout fishing and building four-foot model airplanes. His
greatest passion, though, was his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife,
Donna of Waverly; four children, Kathy Pepper and husband, Bill of
Pueblo, Colorado, Gary Moats of San Francisco, California, Nancy Kash
and husband, Tony of Colorado and Troy Moats and wife, Shelley of
Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren; one brother, Leland Moats and
wife, Barbara of Gilbert, Arizona; and one sister, Barbara Howieson and
husband, Lynn of Forest City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arnold Williamson
August 10, 2006
Arnold Williamson, 89, of Marshalltown, formerly of
Clarion, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at the Veterans Home,
Marshalltown.
Memorial services were held
on Friday, July 14, at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, Clarion.
Pastor Gary Boen officiated at the 10:00 a.m. service. Interment
was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Arnold William Williamson, was born on August
18, 1916 at Kanawha, the son of Nels and Elfreta (Nerem)
Williamson. He was raised in Kanawha.
On August 4, 1942, he joined
the Navy and was discharged on October 23, 1945. After his discharge he
settled in Clarion and ran the Clarion Hatchery.
He moved to Marshalltown 13
years ago and entered the Veterans Home and resided there until his
passing.
Arnold is survived by two
sisters, Verna Mowatt of San Bernadino, California and Ardelle Blendow
of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and a brother, Erling A. Williamson of
Tacoma, Washington.

June Violet Oldham
July 13, 2006
June Violet Oldham, 95, of Clarion, died on Thursday,
July 6, 2006, at the Windmill Manor Care Center, Coralville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the United Presbyterian
Church in Clarion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the
United Church of Christ in Clarion.
June Violet Benson, was born on August 4, 1910 in Clarion, the daughter of
Albert and Anna (Larson) Benson. She graduated from the Clarion High
School and later attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in Moline,
Illinois.
On September 13, 1936, she married Benjamin I. Oldham in Clarion. June
was a homemaker and an R.N. June was also an active member of the United
Presbyterian Church in Clarion.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Dinsmore and husband, Bill of
Coralville and Dixie Jarboe of Pahrump, Nevada; six grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and
three sisters.

Lila Terry
July 20, 2006
Lila L. Terry, 78, of Colfax,
formerly of Clarion, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the
Skiff Medical Center, Newton.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 15, at the Clarion Church of
Christ. Pastor Tim Platt officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Lila Keeling, was born on March 8, 1928 near Belmond, the daughter of
William and Mary (White) Keeling. Her younger years were spent in
Wright County before moving to Missouri, where she graduated from
high school in Niangua, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Thomas R. Terry on May 30, 1946, in
Niangua, Missouri, and they made their home in Clarion, where they
raised a family and Lila helped with her husband's home remodeling
jobs until moving to Colfax in 1987.
Lila is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas R. Terry; daughter,
Kathy L. Mathews of Colfax; a son, Johnny W. Terry and wife, Judith
of West Des Moines; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
one brother, Clifford Keeling and wife, Irene of Clarion; two
sisters-in-law, Betty Terry of Clarion and Bertha Terry of Conway,
Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Keeling; three
brothers, Melvin, Clarence and Orie Keeling; and one sister, Sylvia
LaBounty.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Alzheimer's Research.

Sylven I.
"Skip" Berg
July 20, 2006
Sylven I. "Skip" Berg, 89, of Hampton, died of
natural causes on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the Franklin General
Hospital in Hampton.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 18, at the Sietsema
Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial was in the Hampton Cemetery.
Sylven I. Berg, was born on October 26, 1916
in rural Hamilton County, the son of Olaf S. and Sadie (Oxenfield)
Berg. He graduated from the Ellsworth High School and served in the
U.S. Navy in World War II during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
On
August 20, 1951, he and Marcella Fischer were united in marriage at
Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Skip was a mechanic for the Kriener Brothers
Company in Hampton.
Surviving are five sisters, Byrdie Imlay of Jewell, Inger Scurck of
Des Moines, Virginia Krull of Ellsworth, Ruby Grover and husband,
Richard of Clarion and Ruth Hitsman of Boone; one brother, Omer Berg
and wife, Lill of Columbus, Ohio; a step-daughter, Raela Burns of
New York; and several nieces and nephews.
Skip was
preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; three sisters, Stella
Busby, Betty Berg and Viola Echelberger.

Robert Gerald
Marshall
July 20, 2006
Robert Gerald Marshall, 85, of
Clarion, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2006, at the Iowa Methodist
Center, Des Moines.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 19, at the First Lutheran
Church, Clarion. Pastor Gary Boen officiated at the 1:30 p.m.
service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Robert Gerald Marshall, was born on September 17, 1920 in Lincoln
Township, Wright County, the son of Ralph and Ethel (McCormick)
Marshall. He attended rural school in Lincoln Township and graduated
from the Clarion High School in 1939.
On March 13, 1949, he was
united in marriage to Marilyn Lueck at the First Lutheran Church,
Clarion. Robert and Marilyn had been married for 57 years.
Robert began farming in 1942, and farmed on the same place for over 50
years. Over the years he had been active in the Wright County Diary
Association, the state and district Guernsey Associations, Northwest
Iowa Breeders Association, served as an ASCS Township
Committeeperson, a Wright County Fair Board Director for 25 years, a
4-H Leader for 13 years, and had been a long time member of the
Lions Club.
Robert was a member of the First Lutheran Church where
he served as an usher, funeral usher, and had been on the Endowment
Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, and a member of the Church
Council.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three children, Carol Kellison
and husband, Roger of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Kay Anderson and
husband, Allyn of LeMars and Jim Marshall and wife, Marsha of Ft.
Lupton, Colorado; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two
great-granddaughters; three step-great-grandchildren; a brother,
Daryl Marshall of Clarion; sisters, Maxine Spencer and husband,
Gene, Betty Fibikar and husband, Richard of Clarion, Theresa
Hollebrands, Mary Ann Gathman and husband, Al, Inez Hanig and
husband, Duane and Phyllis Zwiefel and husband, Daryl of Clarion;
one sister-in-law, Kay Marshall of Clarion; and many nieces and
nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Rush
Marshall.
