Floyd Arthur Rasmussen
February 9, 2006
Floyd Arthur Rasmussen, 77, of Marshalltown and formerly
of Goldfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the Iowa
Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Memorial services will be held
at a later date.
Floyd Arthur Rasmussen was born on
January 10, 1929, in Lacqui Parle, Minnesota, the son of Oliver and Emma
Fay (Prusia) Rasmussen.
Floyd graduated from the
Goldfield High School. On January 17, 1951 he entered the U.S. Army,
serving until December 31, 1952, during the Korean War.
After the service he returned
to Goldfield, where he took care of the Glenwood Cemetery for 15 years.
Floyd was a member of the Park Christian Church in Goldfield.
He is survived by three
sisters, Florence Jorgensen of Humboldt, Grace and Linda; and one
brother, Orville Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; and one sister, Shirley Rasmussen.

Donald S. Gardner
February 16, 2006
Donald S. Gardner, 75, a former Clarion resident, died at
his home in Birchwood, Wisconsin on Wednesday, February 1, 2006.
Memorial services were held on
Tuesday, February 17, at the Marantha Evangelical Free Church in Rice
Lake, Minnesota. Rev. Dan Reid, Chaplain Paul Harwart and Rev. Paul
Green officiated with interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans
Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Donald S. Gardner was born on June
29, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Fay and Gladys (Stacy) Gardner.
He graduated from the Clarion High School in 1948. After graduation he
entered the United States Air Force for six years and received an
Honorable Discharge in 1954. He then attended a vocational school and
graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting.
He was married to Margaret Barden in 1955 in Cedar Rapids and they had four children. Donald worked
for and then owned and operated the Barden Locker in Clarion for many
years before moving to Ridgeport, where he owned a locker as well. They
later moved to Boone and he retired in 1992. He moved back to Clarion
for awhile and married Elfrieda Harwart on July 13, 1996 in Hopkins,
Minnesota. In 2000, they built a home and moved to Birchwood, Wisconsin
where they resided at the time of his death.
Donald is survived by his wife, Elfrieda Gardner of Birchwood, Wisconsin; eight children, Jay Dean
Gardner, Bryan Gardner, Julie Butler, James Gardner, Paul Harwart,
Elizabeth Walsh, Barbara Schlonger and Heidi Greenlee; 21 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard and Roger Gardner; a
sister, Marion Voelk; many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
The family has requested that
memorials be sent to the Wright County Center Cardio/Pulmonary Unit.

Jacqueline Kay Douthit
February 9, 2006
Jacqueline Kay Douthit, 44, of Eagle Grove, died
on
Friday, February 3, 2006, due to injuries sustained in
an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday, February 7, at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Pastor
Tony Sollazzo officiated at the 11:00 a.m. service.
Jacqueline Kay Glass was born on
December 11, 1961, in Las Animas, Colorado, the daughter of Jerry and
Shirley (Harper) Glass. She was raised in Kansas, graduating from the
Buhler High School in Buhler, Kansas in 1980. Jackie moved to Eagle
Grove in 1997.
On September 19, 2005, Jackie
was united in marriage with Patrick Douthit at Webster City. The couple
made their home in Eagle Grove.
Jackie has worked for the U.S.D.A. since 1989. Jackie loved animals and enjoyed creating charcoal
pencil drawings.
Jacqueline is survived by her
husband, Pat of Eagle Grove; three children, Ron Sanders and Jerry
Sanders, both of Eagle Grove; and Amanda Sanders of Clarion; parents,
Jerry and Shirley Glass of Hutchinson, Kansas; sisters, Virginia Snow
and husband, Andrew of Wichita, Kansas and Terri Licktieg and husband,
John of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandmother, Pearl Glass of Texas;
mother-in-law, Nancy DeJoode and husband, Bob of Knoxville;
father-in-law, Quinton Douthit of Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by
her maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.
Memorials may be directed to
the Wright County Humane Society.

AnnaBelle "Ann" Ella Smith
March 9, 2006
AnnaBelle "Ann" E. Smith, 82, died on Monday,
February 6, 2006, at the Mercy Hospice-Johnston of respiratory failure.
Eucharist Services were held on
Saturday, February 11, at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Timothy's Episcopal
Church in West Des Moines. Interment followed in Resthaven Cemetery.
AnnaBelle "Ann" Nelson was born
on September 18, 1923, on the family farm near Galt, the daughter of
Clifford and Laura (Perkins) Nelson. She was a member of the 1940
graduating class of the Clarion High School and went on to Thompson's Rudemar School of Beauty in Des Moines, graduating in 1942. She married
Francis Robert (Bob) Smith on October 22, 1943 in Yuma, Arizona and they
were the parents of three children.
In 1995, Ann retired from the
West Des Moines School District where she had worked in food service for
27 years. Throughout her life, Ann enjoyed many activities including
hunting, fishing, traveling, dancing, tending to her flowers, playing
cards and spending time with family and friends.
Ann is survived by two
daughters, Judy Danforth of Yorba Linda, California and Jody Smith and
husband, Brian of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; three
great-granddaughters; and one sister, Alice Moss of Clarion.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; husband, Bob; son, Dennis; and a brother, Floyd Nelson.

Joyce Marie Bisbey
March 30, 2006
Joyce Marie Bisbey, of Rochester, Minnesota, died
peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2006, at the Seasons Hospice House in
Rochester, after a long fight with cancer.
A memorial service will be held
at an unknown date in the near future.
Joyce Marie Larsen was born on
June 2, 1930 in Corwith, the daughter of William (Willie) and Elsie
(Larsen) Flower. She attended school in Eagle Grove where she met her
husband of 56 years, Dwight Bisbey of Clarion.
Joyce was a homemaker and
dedicated her life to her family.
She is survived by three
brothers, Floyd Larsen of Palm Springs, California, Bob Larsen and Lewis
Larsen, both of Eagle Grove; one son, Dr. Roger Bisbey and wife, Julie
of Rochester, Minnesota; two daughters, Nancy (Bisbey) Eichmann and
husband, Larry Mendenhal of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Bisbey) Silk and
husband, Brian of Mason City; eight grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; stepfather, Walter Flower of Eagle Grove; and one sister,
Norma (Larsen) Ingles of Bancroft.

Laurence H. Frakes
February 23, 2006
Laurence H. Frakes, 74, of Gilmore City, passed away on
Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, February 20, in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in
Humboldt. The Rev. David Hobbs officiated at the 1:00 p.m. service.
Interment was in the Duncombe Cemetery.

Eldo Nichols
February 23, 2006
Eldo
Nichols, 93, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at
the USA Health Care Center, Clarion.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 19, at the First Lutheran
Church, Clarion. Pastor Gary Boen officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Eldo Nichols was born on January 27, 1913 in Clarion, the son of Irvin
and Sophia (Sinn) Nichols. He graduated from the Clarion High School in
1931 and remained in the Clarion area his whole life, engaging in
farming.
Eldo married Josephine Anderson on February 1, 1940, in Missouri. He
first farmed east of Clarion, then he moved to a farm near Galt before
moving back to a farm east of Clarion where he farmed from 1950 until
1980, when he retired from farming and moved into Clarion. During his
retirement he continued to have a big garden, several apple trees and
honeybees to provide honey, fruit and vegetables for his family and
members of the community. Eldo was an avid hunter, loved to read and
tell stories.
Eldo is survived by his wife, Josephine of Clarion; three daughters, Joan
Lomas and husband, Cliff of Olney, Illinois, Beth Schultz and husband,
Paul of Clarion and Jean Ridenour and husband, Jim of Clarion; three
sons, Nick Nichols and wife, Elaine of Clarion, Willard Nichols and
wife, Carolyn of Pensacola, Florida and Major Steve Nichols and wife,
Major Macrina Nichols, both currently stationed overseas; 21
grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert; three
sisters, Elnora, Estella and Dorothy; and one son, Keith Nichols.

Roger John Omvig
February 23, 2006
Roger John Omvig, 54, of Kanawha, died on Friday, February
17, 2006, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday, February 21, at the Kanawha Lutheran Church. Burial was in
the Amsterdam Township Cemetery near Kanawha.
Roger John Omvig was born on March
11, 1951, the son of John and Phyllis (Norby) Omvig. He was educated in
the Kanawha school system, graduating from the Kanawha High School in
1969.
On November 8, 1969, Roger
married Diane Walk at the Kanawha Lutheran Church. They were the parents
of two children. Roger and his family made their home on an acreage near
Kanawha until recently moving into town.
Roger worked for Winnebago
Industries for six years, farmed in the Kanawha area for ten years, was
employed at the Kanawha Elevator for 15 years and has currently been
building compressors at Stellar Industries the last five years.
Roger was a member of the
Kanawha Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Diane of Kanawha; a daughter, Daphne Pogge and husband, Jay of Corwith;
a son, Michael and wife, Bobbie of Eagle Grove; six grandchildren; three
sisters, Mary Jo Bell and husband, Larry of Marion, Ohio, Marlys Johnson
and husband, Marvin of Kanawha and Sharon Grimm and husband, Robert of
Kanawha; a brother, Dean Omvig and wife, Mary Ann of Valencia,
California; aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a
grandson, Nicholas Jay Pogge.

Jesse Eleanor Archerd Mechem
February 23, 2006
Jesse Eleanor Archerd Mechem, 99, of Belmond, passed away
on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at the Belmond Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be held
on Saturday, February 25, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond.
Pastor Mike Druhl will officiate at the 11:00 a.m. service. The body was
cremated and a private family interment will take place at the Evergreen
Cemetery.
The family requests that
memorials be directed toward Easter Seals and/or the Salvation Army.

George W. Kraft
February 23, 2006
George W. Kraft, 80, of Goldfield, died on Saturday, February
18, 2006, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.
Funeral services were held on
Wednesday, February 22, at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. The
Rev. Dale Schoening officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service. Burial was in
the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
George W. Kraft was born on
February 22, 1925 at Jolley, Iowa, the 11th child of Fred and Ida
(Schnell) Kraft. He was raised and attended schools in Rockwell City and
Manson. George then moved to Vincent and worked on several farms before
serving in the United States Navy during World War II.
On March 12, 1950, George was
united in marriage to Cornelia (Connie) Stearns in Manson. The couple
established their home in Goldfield where George hauled milk and made
cheese at the Goldfield Creamery. He later worked for Moorman's Feed
Company hauling bagged feed until an accident forced him to retire in
1983.
George was a member of the
United Methodist Church in Goldfield.
Survivors include his wife,
Connie of Goldfield; three sons, Mike Kraft and wife, Diane, Greg Kraft
and wife, Ramona and Roy Kraft and wife, Jodi, all of Goldfield; three
sisters, Garnet Bloomquist of Fort Dodge, Nadine Nutter of Shelton,
Nebraska and Marie Vosberg of Manson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; five brothers, Fred, Carl, Walt, Richard and Harry; and two
sisters, Helen and Nina.

Richard Lee Amonson
March 2, 2006
Richard Lee Amonson,
75, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Wright
Medical Center, Clarion.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 27, at the United
Methodist Church in Clarion. Pastor Don Morrison officiated at the 10:30
a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Richard Lee Amonson was born on August 26, 1930, in Eagle Grove, the son
of Omer and Bernice (Johnson) Amonson. He was raised and educated in
Eagle Grove, graduating from the Eagle Grove High School in 1948. He
also attended Junior College in Eagle Grove.
On April 10, 1953, Dick was united in marriage to Lila Mason in Eagle
Grove. To this union two daughters were born.
Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January of 1949
to January 1950 and was an Army Reservist until August 1953. He loved
his country and was very patriotic.
He owned and operated the Amonson Truck Line. Dick then worked for
Cargill, Inc. in Clarion for 18 1/2 years doing a variety of jobs until
he retired in 1992.
Dick loved to visit, especially the residents of the care centers.
Saturday was spent at the Rotary Ann in Eagle Grove and Sunday at the
USA Health Care Center in Clarion. He enjoyed riding his bike and quite
often you would see Lila and Dick riding together.
Dick was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion.
Dick is survived by his wife, Lila of Clarion; two daughters, Cindy Riley
and husband, Doug and Joy Amonson and companion, Will Johnson, all of
Clarion; two grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Amonson and wife, Gwen of
Eagle Grove; two sisters, Marlene Jorgensen and Jean Jorgensen and
husband, Rod, all of Eagle Grove; and many nieces, nephews, brother and
sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bernadine Tuttle;
and one brother, Oren Amonson.
