Mary
Charlotte Jenkins
September 12, 2002
Mary Charlotte Jenkins, 87, of Sibley,
passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab
Center.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m., at the
United Methodist Church in Sibley. Rev. Paul Frederiksen officiated.
Burial was in the Clarion Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Roger Kallem
officiated at the burial. The Andringa Funeral Home of Sibley was in charge
of the arrangements.
Mary Charlotte Pepper, was born on August 5, 1915 in Dows, the daughter
of Henry and Ruth (Baily) Pepper. She attended the Dows School and
graduated from the Dows High School.
Charlotte and Richard Philip Jenkins of LeMars, were united in
marriage on April 20, 1940 in Clarion. They lived in Clarion where
Charlotte took care of her children and worked at the Cafe. In 1949, she
and Richard moved to Sibley. When Richard became ill. Charlotte worked
at Campbell's Soup Company in Worthington, Minnesota for 14 years until
she retired in 1980. Richard passed away on December 23, 1998.
Charlotte was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sibley. She
was a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Royal
Neighbors of America, and was a Girl Scout Leader in Sibley for many
years.
Charlotte is survived by a son, Richard Jenkins and wife, Noreen of
Garner; one daughter, Phyllis Jenkins of Sibley; and one sister, Viola
Simpson of Iowa Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Richard.

Fatal Accident
September 12, 2002
Phyllis Tourtelotte of Clarion was
fatally injured in an accident on Highway 69 south of Clarion on Friday. Her
husband, Frank was also injured in the collision.
According to a report
from the Wright County Sheriff's Department, both cars were going north on
Highway 69. The Tourtelotte car was attempting to pass a truck driven by
Allan Baumler just south of C-54, when the truck turned left into a DeCoster
Farms driveway, striking the Tourtelotte vehicle.
The accident was reported
by the Iowa State Patrol. They were assisted by the Wright County Sheriff's
office and the Clarion Ambulance Service. The accident remains under
investigation.

Phyllis Tourtelotte
September 12, 2002
Phyllis Maxine Tourtelotte, 77, of Clarion, died Friday, September 6, 2002.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 10, at the Missionary Alliance
Church, Blairsburg. Pastor Bill Keller officiated at the 4:00 p.m. service.
Special Music was provided by the Choralaires. Burial will be at a later
time. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
Phyllis Maxine Sharp, was born on May 2, 1925 in Clarion, the daughter of
Walter and Lillian (Fordyce) Sharp. She attended school and graduated from
the
Clarion High School in 1943.
On February 6, 1944, Phyllis was united in marriage with Frank Tourtelotte,
at the Clarion First United Congregational Church. The couple had four
children, Linda, Kathy, Brian and Lisa. Phyllis worked for many local
businesses and farmers as a bookkeeper, but spent most of her time working
for First National Bank in Clarion.
Phyllis was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg for
over 30 years. She had been a choir director, Sunday School Teacher, youth
group leader, camp counselor at Pilgrim Heights, and she organized Operation
Christmas Child for the Samaritans Purse in this area. She was also very
active with the AWANAS organization at the Missionary Alliance Church, where
she made sure every child received a birthday card. In addition to her
activities at church, Phyllis was also a charter member of the Choralaires
of which she truly loved and took great pride.
Survivors include her husband, Frank of Clarion; four children, Linda Hendley and husband, John, Kathy Glasco and husband, Steve, Brian
Tourtelotte and wife, Jo and Lisa Gates and husband, Brad; 11 grandchildren;
two sisters, Shirley LaBarr of Littleton, Colorado and Norma Lea Kvindlog and
husband, Don of Cedar Rapids; one aunt, Esther Patton of Humboldt; one
uncle, Don Sharp of Clarion; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mildred "Millie" Ott
September 19, 2002
Mildred "Millie" Ott, 69, of Clarion,
passed away on Monday, September 9, 2002, at the USA Healthcare Center, Clarion.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 12, at the First United
Methodist Church, Clarion. Rev. Mike Druhl and Rev. Curt Miner officiated at
the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim
Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred was born on August 19, 1933 in Valentine, Nebraska, the daughter of
Wendell and Stella Adams Cramer. She moved with her family to Clarion when
she was 12 years of age. She attended schools in Clarion and graduated from
the Clarion High School in 1951. After high school she worked for Dr. Gorrell.
Mildred was united in marriage to LaVerne Ott on August 3, 1952, at the
United Methodist Church in Clarion. The couple made their home in Clarion.
Millie worked at McConaughy's Restaurant and the Teenee Weenee Restaurant.
She later worked for the Brenton Bank, retiring in 1998.
Mildred was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in
Clarion, singing in the choir and participating in Sunday School. Mildred
was active in her UMW Circle where she was serving as President.
Mildred is survived by her husband, LaVerne of Clarion; one daughter,
Linda McCormick and husband, Scott of Clarion; two sons, Dan of Clarion and
Robert and wife, Kim of Clarion; four grandchildren; five brothers, Don and
wife, Pauline of Arizona, Harold and wife, Jene of Missouri, Doug and wife,
Helen of Iowa Falls, Rich and wife, Nonna of Illinois and Frank and wife, Mary
Jane of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jaunel Willey.

Tony Pavlovich
October 3, 2002
Tony Pavlovich, 92, of Clarion, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at the
USA Health Care Center in Clarion.
Memorial services were held on Monday, September 30, at the Clarion Church
of Christ. Pastor, Tim Platt officiated at the 11:00 a.m. service. The Willim
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Tony Pavlovich was born on September 18, 1910 in Camden, New Jersey, the son
of George and Annie Andria Pavlovich. The youngest of five children, he was
the only family member born in the United States. Tony's father, George
died when Tony was a baby. The family moved to California where Tony
attended Military School. His mother, Annie died when Tony was 14.
He was a veteran of World War II, beginning active service on October 18,
1942, and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945. He was also a
member of the American Legion and VFW.
Tony married Helen Ragain, on December 2, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He
and Helen made their home in Clarion. They traveled to Tecumseh, Nebraska,
frequently to visit Helen's family.
Tony is survived by a special friend, Evelyn Meeder of Clarion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen in 1998; two
brothers, Frank and Joe; and two sisters, Eva and Mary.

Irma Maxheimer
October 17, 2002
Irma Maxheimer, 70, of Marshalltown, died on
Saturday, September 28, 2002, at the Oakview Care Center, Conrad.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 2, at the Pursel-Davis Funeral
Home & Crematory. Pastor Bobby Shomo of the Center Street Baptist Church
officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment followed in the Vienna Cemetery, Beaman. A memorial fund has been established to Iowa River Hospice.
Irma Maxheimer was born on May 30, 1932 in Wright County, the daughter of
Elmer and Isel (Mechem) Maxheimer. Raised in rural Clarion, she was a
graduate of the Clarion High School. She lived on a farm in Wright County prior
to moving to Marshalltown in 1952. She was a purchasing clerk for
Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center prior to her retirement in 1996.
She is survived by one sister, June (Mrs. Everette) Sams of Whitten; two
brothers, Paul Maxheimer and wife, Naomi and Lee Maxheimer, all of Clarion;
one sister-in-law, Ruth Matson of Ames; four nephews; five nieces; and
special friends, Lee and Jean Garrett and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Bob Maxheimer
and Randall Matson.
