Wilma Cleo Sizemore

Wilma Cleo (Thompson) Sizemore, 97, of Clarion, died on Thursday, September 20, 2001, at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. The cause of her death was complications from a fall.

A memorial service will be held on November 1, 2001, at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion. Rev. Curt Miner will officiated. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Wilma Cleo Thompson was born on August 11, 1904, in Belmond, the daughter of Tolford Albin and Anna (Nelson) Thompson. After graduating from the Belmond High School in 1922, she worked for the Fort Dodge Telephone Company.

She and Dr. Earl Lloyd Sizemore, a local dentist, were married on May 22, 1930, and they lived in Clarion until his death on September 23, 1985. She was a homemaker known in the neighborhood and at church events for her sweet rolls and white cake.

Wilma was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, The Adah Chapter No. 136 Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Wilma is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fay Thon of Aurora, Colorado; and one son, Dr. Glen Sizemore of Winnetka, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Mrs. Everill Whitaker of Atlanta, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the Earl and Wilma Sizemore Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 101, Clarion, Iowa 50525.

Caroline Bertha Anderson

Caroline Bertha Anderson, 92, of Eagle Grove, died on Saturday, September 29, 2001, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 2, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Revs. Paul and Susan Stone officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The Foust Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Caroline Bertha Tegland was born on December 2, 1909, the daughter of Otto and Rachel (Hefte) Tegland on a farm near Clarion in Wright County. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. She attended school in rural Norway Township. Caroline worked for various farm families in the area doing housekeeping and child care.

She and Marson S. Anderson were married on January 13, 1934, at the farm home of her parent's near Clarion. The couple farmed near Rowan for a year and then moved to Clarion and later to Mason City. In 1937, the family moved to Eagle Grove.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Lou Christians and husband, Charles of New Brighton, Minnesota; one brother, Joseph Tegland and wife, Frances of Belmond; two sisters, Hazel Hinman of Belmond and Ilene Kalkwarf and husband, Robert of Belmond; two sister-in-laws, Bernice Sampson of Eagle Grove and Elsie Weld of Keizer, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marson in 1982; daughter, Beverly Caroline Haugse; one grandson; three brothers, Oren, Leslie, Elmer and Paul; and one sister, Olive Ruth Cook.
