Mitchell Garrett Boen

Mitchell "Mitch" Garrett Boen, 21, of Clarion, died on Saturday, November 3, 2001, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 7, at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion. Rev. Curt Miner of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service. Burial was in the Strombeck Cemetery, Montevideo, Minnesota. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.

Mitchell Garrett Boen, was born on July 26, 1980, at Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the oldest son of Pastor Gary and Sandra (Walstrom) Boen. Before coming to Clarion the family lived in Pelican Rapids, International Falls, and Clearbrook, Minnesota.

Mitch was currently a student at Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his parents, Pastor Gary and Sandra Boen of Clarion; two brothers, Ryan and Collin Boen of Clarion; grandparents, Orlean Boen of Burnsville, Minnesota and Joyce Walstrom of Montevideo, Minnesota; aunts and uncles; and five cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joyce Boen and Sterling Walstrom.

Ellen Kirstein Cecilia Jung

Ellen Kirstein Cecilia Jung, 88, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2001, at the USA Healthcare Center in Clarion.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 9, at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion. Interim Pastor Paul Stone officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.

Ellen Kirstein Cecilia Landgren, was born on October 10, 1913 in Mason City, the daughter of Nels and Elin Landgren. She attended school in Mason City and graduated from the Mason City High School.

In 1934, Ellen and Harold Dutch Jung were married in Mason City. The couple made their home in Mason City until moving to Minneapolis during World War II (1942) where Ellen was a homemaker. They later moved to Charles City for a short time before coming to Clarion in 1950. Ellen and Dutch owned and operated the Davis Paint Store in Clarion for 25 years before retiring in 1975. She moved into the Clarion Care Center in 2000.

Ellen was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Alter Guild, and Agenda Club.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Judy Sheffield and husband, Tom of Boyden; three grandsons; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Esther Wickre of Livermore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dutch in 1997; and one brother, Henry.

Clara Klehm

Clara Klehm, 90, of Clarion, died on Sunday, November 4, 2001, at the USA Health Care Center, Clarion.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 7, at the United Methodist Church, Clarion. Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.

Clara (Ostendorf) Klehm, was born on October 29, 1911, in Franklin County, the second of six children born to Otto and Katie (Blau) Ostendorf. Clara attended country school until the 9th grade when she quit and began working to help support her family.

Clara and Ray Klehm, were united in marriage on February 14, 1940 in Alexander. They were the parents of two children, Jerilyn and Marlin. Ray and Clara farmed in the Latimer area until 1959 when they moved to Clarion. They continued to farm near Clarion until Ray's death in 1963.

Clara and the children then moved into town and she worked at various places. She eventually was a cook at the Clarion Community School until she retired in 1976. Clara moved into the Belmond Apartment Complex in 1982 and then to the Southtown Apartments in Clarion in May 1998. In May of 1999 she entered the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. She resided there until the time of her death.

Clara is survived by one daughter, Jerilyn of Humble, Texas; one son, Marlin and wife, Linda of Clarion; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia Baker and husband, Harold of Belmond; one brother, Harry Ostendorf of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin; and one sister-in-law, Betty Ostendorf of Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Frank and John Ostendorf; and one sister, Jeanette Olinger.

Ronald Leroy Jergenson

Ronald Leroy Jergenson, 66, of Clarion, died on Saturday, November 10, 2001, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion. Pastor Curt Miner officiated at the 2:oo p.m. service. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.

Ronald LeRoy Jergenson, was born on May 5, 1935 in Florence, Iowa (Wright County) the son of Sam and Helen Carter Jergenson. Ron grew up in the Clarion and Goldfield areas where he attended country schools and the Clarion High School. He was baptized and confirmed in Eagle Grove.

After high school, Ron began working for Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion at the age of 19. He worked as a machinist at Hagie until his retirement.

Ronald was united in marriage to Gladys Jean Sorenson on April 12, 1959 in Clarion. They later divorced.

Ron is survived by two daughters, Wendy Conley and husband, Leland of Webster City and Lanette Watts and husband, Wayne of Clarion; two sons, Steve and wife, Juanita of Clear Lake and Jeff of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mardell Lindstrom of Phoenix, Arizona and Bonnie Hill and husband, Kenny of Grundy Center; four brothers, Richard and wife, Norma of Clarion, Dennis and wife, Kathy of Humboldt, John and wife, Sue of St. Louis, Illinois and Randy of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, (Pee Wee) Lindstrom.

Clifford "Dick" Cea Woodin

Clifford Dick Cea Woodin, 93, of Clarion, died on Saturday, November 24, 2001, at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 27, at the First United Methodist Church, Clarion. Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim Funeral Home, Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.

Clifford Dick Cea Woodin, was born on August 29, 1908 in rural Clarion, the son of John and Elizabeth (Cea) Woodin. He attended and graduated from the Clarion High School. After graduation he spent time helping his father farm near Lake Cornelia.

In October of 1929, Clifford was united in marriage with Elizabeth Archerd at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. The couple were the parents of three children and made their home on the family farm near Lake Cornelia.

Besides farming and family, Dick spent his time as a member of various groups and committees. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, and the Senior Citizens Center (where he loved to play cards). Dick also served on the board of directors for the Clarion Co-op and belonged to the ASCS committee.

Dick is survived by three children, Richard Woodin and wife, Harriett of Belmond, Judy Peterson of Webster City and Jerry Woodin and wife, Marilyn of Rodgers, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lela Court of Clarion; and special friend, Regina Mosher of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives, Elizabeth, Velma and Marion; three brothers; one sister; one grandson, Jeff; and a great-grandson, Chris.
