Meeting 1:30 p.m.
"New Face of the IAGenWeb"
Loren Toomsen, Clear Lake, uses a wireless digital cell phone to access the internet.  The program visits the IAGenWeb Project online.  Loren was part of the team who developed the new IAGenWeb Obituary, Biography, Genealogy Documents and Query Boards.

Harriet Pedelty, Mason City, will read a letter from a Civil War soldier that she had "encapsulated" at the Mason City Public Library3

"Encapsulation"
The process of encapsulation will be demonstrated using real time examples.  N.C.I.G.S. members and guests are encouraged to bring valuable genealogy items to be "encapsulated." 

We will be conducting our annual "No-Bake Sale" during this meeting.

March 2nd:
Meeting 1:30 p.m.
"The Brave Ones -- Early Iowa Pioneer Women"
Bev Larsen, Elk Horn, Iowa, focuses on the first women in the various counties.  Her book, the same name as our program, is used as an aid in the unit on Iowa History in many schools.  Her program is derived from the personal jottings of these women, "Out of the research for the book, extant journals, diaries and letters from many early pioneer women were shared with me by their descendants."

We will be conducting our annual "No-Bake Sale" during this meeting.

April 6th:
Meeting 1:30 p.m.

"Trips to China"
Dorothy Paul and Irma Harris will highlight their recent trips to China. Some of the sites they visited are the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Terra-Cotta Warriors. Dorothy has a video tape of her visit and Irma has slides to show. Although neither trip was for genealogical purposes, it promises to be an interesting presentation.

"Salt Lake City Research Preparation"
Birdie Ellsworth, a veteran of many trips to Salt Lake City, will present research preparation tips that she has used.

We will be conducting our annual Garage Sale on the 24th & 25th.

Meeting 1:30 p.m.

Chuck Prickett will do a programme on Scotland. It will include a short geography lesson, his history of living there, and genealogy societies and web sites.

Meeting 1:30 p.m.

"Ostfriesland, Germany  Heritage"
by Lee Aldrich. The program will include customs of the area, things to see and do, travel tips, and addresses for web sites, societies and other resources.  Ostfriesland is an area in northwest Germany where many Midwesterners of German descent have their roots.

Meeting 1:30 p.m.

"Favorite Genealogy Web Sites"
will be presented by Tom Sawyer.  This will include a handout of addresses, as well as what type of material can be accessed on the Internet.  He will cover free sites, as well as some subscription sites.  Search techniques will also be discussed.

"Dating Old Photographs" is the subject of Beth McBride's presentation. It will include using clues from clothing and background as well as type of photo.

"Deposition of Iowa Lands after the Louisiana Purchase"
will be presented by Stan Holtan from Forest City.

"Messages from the Past to the Present"
Pat Schultz, president of TRACES BOD, will talk about the group's mission, the stories it has preserved, and how you might follow their example to locate and preserve you own stories.
