Back in Time:
a Visit with Carrie Chapman Catt, activist for
women’s suffrage and world peace
In period costume, Linda Hughes will discuss
the life and work of Carrie Chapman Catt. From
her early days growing up on a farm on the Iowa
prairie, to her days at Iowa State University,
to her presidency of the National American Women
Suffrage Association, Mrs. Catt was a tireless
worker for women’s rights and world peace. A
short power point presentation about the
National 19th Amendment Association and its work
to preserve Carrie’s legacy will accompany the
impersonation.

Max Handley
of the
Marble Rock Historical Society will present the program
"Preserving the past for the future"
Mr. Handley was a depression
baby and has lived in Marble Rock his entire
life excluding time at Iowa State College. As a
result, he has a "working knowledge" of many
historic Marble Rock people and events. Mr.
Handley is retired from Sukup Manufacturing Co.,
Sheffield, where he served as Sales Manger and
later Director of Marketing. Prior to Sukup, he
worked as World-Wide Service Manger for
Oliver/White Farm in Charles City.
Mike Gibson, who staffs the LDS Family
History Library, offers the following research
